She could quite possibly be the hottest nerd yet. Ha, it's cool. She's an aerospace engineer and she's a cheerleader for the Houston Texans.
And of course more news of a similar caliber...
If all news stories were like this then I don't think there'd be a problem in the world. Yeah, it's probably all spun like the rest of the news, but I think in a positive direction. And my personal favorite, collegiate-level.

flavor of the week
Perusing through the online news services I stumbled across some diamonds in the rough. Across the world people are worried about famine, disease, civil war and genocide. Here in the grand ol' United States we have these top the US News section at CNN.
1. Indiana puts price on profanity. The only good thing about this article is the use of alliteration in the title. Nothing good has come from Indiana.
2. Molester blames wife's bingo habit. Bingo huh? Yeah, the judge didn't buy that either. He wasn't a perv, but someone else's "habit" made him that way. Can bingo really be a habit?
3. Frigid Midwest could lose power for days. Ah, finally, some hard hitting news! Something I can sink my teeth into. Yet, when I look at the article, I'm instantly drawn to the guy in the photo, smoking a cigarette while handling high-voltage lines. Yes! He rocks!
The US can't be all that bad right? I mean, there's always college basketball to cheer you up from all of this depressing news. Lincoln totally wailed on Ohio State-Marion. 201-78. You might think that was a blow out, but again you're focusing on the wrong part of this story. A bunch of 6th graders with Down syndrome and CP scored 78 points! That's a victory in my book.
Wait, I'm sorry, Ohio State-Marion doesn't have a CP basketball squad. So I guess they suck, how the hell do you score 200 points in 45 minutes? Did someone explain to OS-M that college basketball is played on a full court? None of this schoolyard half-court stuff, take it out to the line and then shoot.

bounce, bounce, bounce
"Pick up the damn ball!"
Ah yes, tennis coverage. A sport developed by a woman no doubt. Two parties just hiting a ball back and forth. Sort of like arguing. Wait, I take it back. If it was developed by a woman then it would just be one person with a racket hitting balls at their defenseless opponent. Sorry for the confusion.
So it's WTA Championship time. This year the WTA organizers went all out and hired male models as ball boys. Huh. They said that it was in response to criticism about using female models at the men's finals. Look, I don't have a problem with them throwing some eye candy of the opposite sex on the court. Great, now I have something to look at when I watch Andy Roddick on the court not that I watch men's tennis. Which is why I watch women's tennis. What? I'm not ashamed of it, I'm not watching it as an athletic competition as much as it is two women running around, sweating and grunting.
I just hope that the male models do as well as the female models did. Let's face it, neither group has a lot of brain cells. Now it doesn't take much to be a ball boy/girl but men are easily distracted and female tennis players do look a lot better than their male counterparts. So one would wonder if the lack of brain activity would hamper a male model's ability to pick up on the fact that there's a ball rolling around on the court and that he should scamper out and get it.
If anything it should be interesting to watch a chick beat the crap out of one of the male models with a tennis racket in a McEnroe-esque fit.

the news in the morning
There's nothing better than reading the news in the morning to make me smile. The news is filled with stupid people, doing stupid things and it makes you wonder 'How?' For example, one piece of news is the shooting outside of an Indianapolis strip club involving several members of the Indiana Pacers. This following their new campaign that they are changing the organization, for the better, all around from the players to the lady that works the front desk. And now the NBA commissioner is implementing change within the whole organization. Great! So now you're trying to teach morality to a bunch of people that never in a day of their life had any? Good luck with that. I guess the incentive of keeping their multi-million dollar paychecks would 'make' them go along with the change. Huh. That just sounds moronic.
Now I don't have anything against incentive programs, but shouldn't the underlying theme be a love (passion) for whatever it is you're doing? I love what I do, unfortunately I don't get paid much. After bills (rent, gas, electricity) I have about $200 for other necessities (gas for car, food, clothing, movies). To add to my income I have my Reserve drill pay, which maybe another $200 but I have to drive 206 miles (one way) to do this. So why do I do it? Because I love it. Sure, it'd be great if I could collect a million dollars a year for what I do but I don't and it doesn't stop me. I come in 30 minutes early and leave on-time or later. I work from home afterwards and even work weekends. All for the measly paycheck I collect. I say let the basketball players work for $5.25-an-hour plus tips, keep the strict dress code and the ban on firearms, and see how many keep playing. Love of the game right?
So basketball players get paid huge sums of money to entertain us. Interesting, and what's the shelf life of a basketball player? Twenty years? Thirty years? Oh well, they're set for life once they retire. Of course they'd have to be set for life when they retire at 35, it's because their f**king morons that have no marketable skills beside throwing an orange ball into an orange hoop. Woo! I said let them carry guns onto the courts, I'll watch from home. That'll make the game more interesting. I think more people would watch. A guy goes up for a dunk and BANG! Did someone get hit? No? Oh, he didn't make the dunk either. Now if a team scores a 100 points, they're the winner. Plus it'll thin out the herd once they learn how to shoot. And for the playoffs, let the audience bring in their own firearms. More motivation I say, players could be shot by the opponent's fans or if they miss a shot or pass, then one of their own fans could shoot them. How's that for incentive?
